...His Father was a Mudder, His Mother was a Mudder..

Man, days like Sunday remind me why I love running... Thirty five degrees, raining, and wind gusts up to 27 MPH in Grand Haven... I guess it could be snowing right?

I decided to run my usual route through town and along the boardwalk... routines are hard to break so I make the turn through the State Park. For those of you not familiar with Grand Haven (birthplace of American Running), and the State Park, it opens up to a wide expanse of sand... The layout allows for wind-tunnel type air flow that will literally stand you in your tracks... Of course if you have seen me run; short strides and little ground clearance, you could argue that the wind isn't the issue...

The park is empty and intermittent drifts appear along the way... Nothing better than running over a sand dune that is really a soft snow bank with a layer of sand on top... Yeah you guessed it, I broke through the layer and sunk to knee level in a gritty cold damp mixture of snow, sand, rainwater (did I tell you it was raining?), and probably dog poop (that's another story)...

That really wasn't the worst of it... I am leaning into the wind as I was running... I sink in up to my knees and proceed to fall face down in the dune as my plant foot was stuck... I had to turn around on my hands and knees to dig out my shoe. All that technical gear with the moisture wicking and the socks that are blister-proof, don't really help you under circumstances like these...

By the way... I updated my profile... See, one of the items is "Favorite Music"... I put several current and past (still like them but they are older) bands... She Wants Revenge is a band that draws from Bauhaus (became Tones on Tales, then Love & Rockets) and Joy Division (became New Order)... Gothy but pretty cool stuff... Trust me! The other band is The Faint. Any band with a song titled "The Geeks Were Right" and Desperate Guys" is OK by me! The Cure is the other band... If I need to describe who they are, you must live in Zeeland...

The last music choice I entered was " 80's Alternative"... Big Mistake! This is a PG-13 site so I will not go into details... I updated to include "80's Alternative Music"... Minor detail, major improvement... I can tell you what was there, but not on this site...

So I click on the links to see what it does (each of the music entry's) and it lists other bloggers who also indicated that same music fave... Wow what a bunch of whack jobs that listen to my music... I'm glad I'm not one of them... I'm just saying... I'm not judging or anything but... Actually I don't really understand that expression... After all, judging someone or something implies that you are willing to hear both sides (that whole blindfolded chick in the bedsheets holding a scale thing)... I form my assessment without the need for rebuttal... It's what makes me, me...

Don't forget to thank the volunteers.

Rico
